Midday Sun is originally painted on an the back of a linen school map the artist found in an antique shop. For this limited edition pigment print published by Bernard Ruijgrok Piezografie, Amsterdam the artist used an image that was based on a post culled from instagram.
The girl that is depicted was posing in a sun drenched coastal town. The everyday quality of the image, it’s stark contrasts and the possibilty for it to become universally recognizable appealed to the artist. The coloration and history of the material plays an essential part in the overall composition.
