Artist Jasper Krabbé has transformed a simple IKEA children’s chair into a unique artwork for Art for Chairity. The charity auction and dinner in support of SOS Children’s Villages will take place on October 5th, 2026.

Krabbé covered the chair entirely with original drawing. Different elements such as a cat, an older man, trees and observations of everyday life are i collaged directly onto the wooden support. At first glance, they evoke the free, associative world of a child. Yet appearances are deceptive. Some images seem to fade, becoming almost transparent.

The disappearing drawings symbolise a childhood that can be taken away. War and displacement, as well as poverty and child labour, can rob children of the safe space they ideally need to play, dream and develop freely.
