Interview in this months IDEAT Magazine
In his monumental studio in Zaandam, just outside Amsterdam, Jasper Krabbé paints portraits that feel both layered and alive. Coming from one of the Netherlands’ most iconic artistic families, his own story began not in a studio but on the streets with graffiti and the pulse of the city.
Today, those worlds have fully merged. His portraits balance refinement with the untamed energy of his beginnings. He paints on materials that have a story: envelopes, book pages, drop cloths stitched together over time. “It gives space for imagination,” he tells IDEAT.
For Krabbé, art is something to be shared, not possessed. That belief now takes form in CLOUDS, a book to be released next year, gathering years of drawings and ideas, offering a glimpse into his world and the stories behind the paint.
